VOLUNTEER FIRE OFFICER QLD

2005 to Current

On moving to Queensland Warren became a member of the Black River & Districts Rural Fire Brigade. He was elected to the First Officer role which he has held from 2006 until 2021.

Warren spearheaded the transformation of the brigade from a back yard operation to having a first class fire station and training facility. He also guided the brigade to a point where they specialise in Community Education.

Through long term goal setting and strategic vision, Warren achieved sustained growth with the help of many volunteer firefighters and their families.

In this time Warren has held the role of Group Officer representing 12 brigades and was inaugural Townsville Representative on the State Executive of the Rural Fire Brigades Association of Queensland. He has produced a number of articles for Emergency Response Magazine and was a significant author contributor to the book "The True Spirit of Cyclone Yasi" (2012).

Warren is also a member of the Australian Bushfire Management Association.

Australia is a nation built on the concept of looking after your mates. It is this that leads many hundreds of thousands of people to give their valuable human resource to making our nation not only better but safer as well.

Warren has reached a level of volunteering which impacts less on the day to day physical labour resource and more on the command , control and coordination level of emergency and disaster management. His role encompasses more closely the principles of Plan, Prepare Respond and Recover
